Phius Mission/Vision

The Phius mission is to support comfortable living for all and the well-being of the planet.

Phius Milestones: Driving Next-Generation Passive Building Standards

In 2007, architect Katrin Klingenberg and builder Mike Kernagis cofounded Phius (Passive House Institute US) to train consultants and certify projects on our climate-tailored passive building standard. Today, Phius is the leading passive building standard in North America, and the Phius Standard is applicable globally. We certify the most passive house projects in North America and put passive at the forefront of the zero-energy movement.

Phius Alliance: Building Community, Sharing Knowledge

Established in 2010, the Phius Alliance (formerly PHAUS) brings together the growing community of passive building professionals in the US to share experiences and technical knowledge, spread the word about passive building and serve as a voice for shaping national policy. See what we're accomplishing together.
