Application

A short application questionnaire is included in the training registration link.

Self-Guided Modules

Weeks 1–4

Complete approximately 13 hours of self-guided modules. A recommended completion schedule is available in the course, breaking the content into weekly goals across 4 weeks.

This coursework provides foundational knowledge in building science, passive building principles, Phius Certification, risk assessment, and quality assurance and must be completed before your instructor-led session begins.

Live Instructor-Led Sessions

Weeks 5-6

Attend 24 hours of instructor-led live sessions, delivered virtually or in person depending on your selected format, focused on putting theory into practice. Participants will work through numerous guided exercises in small and large groups to review project details and various assemblies, and to identify risks to ensure projects can be completed on time and on budget.

Certification Exams

To become a Phius Certified Builder, you must achieve a combined passing score on the Phius Certified Builder (CPHB) Exams. The exams are administered through the online Training Site and consist of two parts:

- Online Exam: A traditional-style exam featuring 50 questions.
- Offline Exam: A downloadable exam document where you will respond to open-ended questions.

Certification

Upon passing the exam, new professionals complete an agreement and are then listed in the online professional database, receive professional logos, and are provided with a FREE year of Phius Alliance membership.
