In this week’s blog post, Phius Policy Specialist Isaac Elnecave discusses a program in Colorado offering significant incentives for Phius Certified projects.

The recent fire in Marshall, Colorado (in Southeastern Boulder County) has left many without homes, leaving a community that largely needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

As part of these efforts, local utility provider Xcel Energy is offering incentives to those who rebuild their homes to above-code standards. This includes an incentive of $30,000-37,500 for homes built to Phius standards.

In response to the losses suffered by so many homeowners in the fire, the Boulder Valley Build Expo was held Feb. 24-25 at the Ascent Community Church in Louisville. The Expo was designed to connect builders and building professionals with people who lost their homes in the fire.

The Expo was attended by builders and architects from the area who answered questions about the rebuild process, including officials from Louisville and Superior (two towns that were heavily damaged in the fire).

Below are links to a flier with more information on the incentive program and to the Builder Expo website.
