Phius Certified Builder Training and Certification Exam | February 2026

The new training content is updated to reflect the latest passive building best practices and strategies. The new curriculum also has an increased focus on multifamily buildings, as they continue increasing in prominence in the passive building sector.

The training includes 10-15 hours of self-guided training to be completed prior to the in-person instruction. The self-guided training will introduce the foundational theories and concepts of the course, and the in-person, instructor-led portion will focus on real-world application.

This training prepares construction professionals to understand passive building techniques, such as airtight enclosures, high-performance window installation, passive design strategies, field quality assurance, and site management. For a project pursuing Phius Certification, these professionals ensure the building is built and operating to the plans and specifications.

The Phius Certified Builder training is for superintendents, supervisors, foremen, and project managers responsible for ensuring Phius buildings are completed on time and on budget, with field experience in construction and/or high performance building.
