August Webinar: Architect’s Guide to Ultra-Low-Energy Buildings, Microgrids and Direct Current with Lisa White

The Architect’s Guide is intended to serve as an introduction to concepts about the electric grid including decarbonization, electrification, resilience and direct current. Decarbonization and resilience are larger than the buildings sector–but buildings are a big player in society’s efforts to accomplish both objectives. The guide introduces load profiles, and then external factors that serve as load modifiers or disruptors. These are discussed in the context of grid-scale changes that are influenced by building design decisions that are a uniquely architectural responsibility. By understanding the impacts beyond the building boundary, architects are suited to make informed decisions to further their impact.
