About the Course

Course Structure

This 8-hour course is delivered over two 4-hour sessions.

Master the Model

In this course, you will learn from experienced Phius trainers and modelers. They'll hit the critical, must-know elements for modeling multifamily buildings in WUFI Passive learned from their own experience. Alongside, students will explore tips to speed up and optimize modeling workflows – including insight on supplemental calculators and supporting tools to improve processes and streamline Phius Certification project submissions.

Hands-On Virtual Learning

This online training includes both instructor-led tutorial style training as well as guided modeling completed by each student. The live online setting provides flexibility with busy work schedules and allows more students to get trained without compromising student-instructor interaction.

Free Access to the Modeling Tool

With course registration, students will receive an 8-week license to the full version of WUFI Passive and WUFI Plus.

Course Learning Objectives

  • Learn about quality-related Phius certification requirements such as moisture control guidelines and condensation risk analysis that compliment the WUFI Passive energy model
  • Discuss details specific to modeling a multifamily geometry including takeoff dimensions, grouping windows, multiple zones, attached zones and modeling isolated building zones.
  • Learn how to model complex building assemblies, window conditions, custom materials, and account for various types of thermal bridging often found in large scale buildings.
  • Learn how to model various multifamily scale mechanical systems including setting up centralized, semi-centralized and decentralized ventilation systems, working with the DHW calculator and accounting for various renewable energy options.
