Help Make Passive Building Mainstream Support PHIUS

Additional Modeling Tools

The following modeling tools are valuable resources to support Certified Passive House Consultants (CPHC®) and other passive building practitioners with the accurate modeling of PHIUS+ projects.

BEopt™ (Building Energy Optimization)

The BEopt™ (Building Energy Optimization) software, developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), is a tool for evaluating residential building energy and cost optimization. BEopt can be used to analyze new construction and retrofits, as well as single-family and multifamily buildings. BEopt runs on Energy Plus, the Department of Energy's flagship simulation engine.

THERM

THERM is a state-of-the-art computer program developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) used to model two-dimensional heat-transfer effects in building components where thermal bridges are of concern such as windows, walls, foundations, roofs, and doors.
