This guide covers building energy fundamentals and provides step-by-step instructions to predicting and reducing the energy consumption of buildings.

ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guides (AEDG)

The ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guides (AEDG) are a series of publications designed to provide recommendations for achieving energy savings over the minimum code requirements of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 for non-residential buildings. The AEDG are free to download after registering on the site. Building typologies covered in the AEDG include retail, offices, grocery stores, K-12 schools, warehouses/storage, lodging, and healthcare facilities.

Healthy Indoor Environment Protocols for Home Energy Upgrades

The EPA has developed a voluntary guidance document, Healthy Indoor Environment Protocols for Home Energy Upgrades, that provides a set of best practices for improving indoor air quality in conjunction with energy upgrade work in homes. The protocols apply to existing single-family and multi-family low-rise residential buildings and provide guidance for conducting home assessments and undertaking the responses necessary to maintain or improve indoor air quality and safety.
